Highlights

Long time, no post. I’ve been absorbed in The Olympics and sort of lost in a personal fog and it seems like forever since I’ve sat down and posted anything. I’ve written a bunch of posts, but never finished any of them and none of them are anything I consider post worthy, so I’ll just give the highlights to catch you up.

Yes, Sir, That’s My Baby- my blog post on the John Edwards scandal. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last politician to have an affair with a Hoochie Mama. I’m not buying his “there’s no way the baby is mine” when the National Enquirer paparazzi ends up chasing him into a toilet after leaving Hoochie’s hotel room. I don’t care if that other married man says the baby is his (did I say hoochie mama?), I’m not buying it.

Family Tree
- Matthew McConaughey saves the placenta from his son’s birth and is going to plant it in an orchard. Nice idea, I guess, but the process seems a little....gross. What do I expect from a guy who hasn’t worn deodorant in over 20 years?

Wedding Bells- Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi marry in California. I’m very glad to see legalization of same-sex marriage. If two people are in love and want to make that commitment, then by all means, they should be able to do so. Congrats to both of them!

Open Wide-My TMJ problems have worsened and I ended up in the Emergency Room with a dislocated jaw. Lots of IV drugs and some barbaric repositioning later, my jaw is back in place. Not attractive.

I will be starting physical therapy soon to see if that helps at all.If not, I will probably be looking at surgery. I'm not all that anxious for that to happen.

Monkeying Around- I went to the zoo and was mesmerized by these Western Lowland Gorillas. I could watch them all day.

Knock On Wood
-I’ve been spending some time in my garage playing with wood and saws. I’m particularly fond of the scroll saw and have been trying my hand at a few things. They’re not great, but I’m enjoying making them.

The Books I Read- My daughter’s many therapy and group sessions leave me sitting in my car for hours at a time and I’ve been catching up on some books that have been sitting unread on my dresser. All three get gold medals from me!

Speaking of medals, last week I was awarded a bronze medal in Malcolm's Weekly Trivia Game. Go on over an play this week, but if you knock me off the podium, I'm gonna be more upset than this guy :)

I wondered where you had been! Had my fingers crossed that all was well (and dang, they were beginning to get cramped!). Glad to see you back up and running...and quit knocking your artistic efforts. Personally, I think they are pretty darned cool, and I'm so jealous I could spit.

Welcome back, I liked how you had a synopsis of all that you've done or thought about.

I'm so sad about Edwards, thought he would be above it all. I would like to check out the books that you read, I spend time waiting in the car and knit.

I read your post above about wondering where the time has gone when looking at our teenagers. I just wish I could go back to one of those days when they were younger and just enjoy it!!
Good luck with your jaw, I cringed when I read about it. I dislocated my pinky once and that was worse enough, can't imagine having a jaw like that.

well written synopsis report...
Sorry to hear about the tmj, I may be looking at rotator cuff surgery soon myself.
Love that heart made of two bodies you did in wood, that is awesome.
So, you don't want me to play trivia this week??? LOL

Shelly: ohhhh don't spit! Not attractive :) Between the Olympics, all the running for my daughter and back to school stuff, I just haven't had a chance to blog regularly! I'm back!!

JennyMcB: I was very upset about John Edwards, too. I just hope that if that baby is his, then he steps up and takes care of her emotionally and financially. Yeah, the jaw thing left a bit to be desired :)

sassy: oh sorry about your rotator cuff. My coworker is having surgery for that, too soon. Must be something in the air. Of course I want you to play trivia this week!!! I just don't want you to knock me off the podium :) Oh well, if you do, I'm sure I can climb back on eventually. You and Pjazzy are quite the competitors!!!

I hope your jaw is feeling better. Thanks for linking to my blog and mentioning the weekly game of trivia. The battle for the top 3 spots is getting more intense every week. I don't know if you totaled up your score, but you missed 3rd place by only 2 pts. Not only that, but the person in 5th place only trailed you by 2 pts too!

I keep hearing so much about Janet Evanovich. One of these days I'm going to read one of her Plum mysteries.

I was wondering about you too.
