Paperback Writer

I’ve decided that since my back hurts and it’s not like I can work, walk or go anywhere, that I would take the plunge and participate in this years National Novel Writing Contest Month, better known around the blogosphere as NaNoWriMo. The goal is to write 50,000 words between November 1 and November 30, 2008.

I mentioned a while back that I was itching to be a paperback writer. Writing a novel is always something that has appealed to me, but I, like a lot of people, am an equally fabulous procrastinator and always keep saying “one day”.

The beauty of NaNoWriMo is that “one day” is here and now. I didn’t start my novel until two days ago, so I’m a little behind in the word count, but I’m sure I can catch up.

I can’t wait until you all meet my main character, Cat, and see just how she uses those boots of hers :) Wish me luck!

Good luck! You can do it! (And you know who this is ... Not Bobby Cleveland!) ;-)

Well, thank you, Bob! I feel confident that I can do it. Whether or not it's anything anybody actually wants to read is another story. ;)

50,000 words? Do they all have to be different or can you use a couple of the same words more than once???

Just kidding, of course.

Sounds like a lot of fun. If I had the time to do it, I might enjoy something like that...but I don't know that I have 50,000 words worth of anything to say! lol

GOOD LUCK!

Yes, Dustin, different words. Although, there is nothing that says they have to make sense so I imagine you could just type whatever you wanted and still "win". I'm not sure I have that many words either, but I'll try. And if it's crap, well, at least I can say that I did indeed write a novel, right?

So, this is an autobiography?

Good luck on your novel! Do you have a title yet?

Shelly: well it's part autobiographical and part made up and part borrowed from somebody else's story.

Malcolm: No,no title yet. I have to come up with something clever.
