Shuffle Off

To Buffalo?

Sounds fun, but no. I’m talking about shuffling off to summer camp and here’s how we’re gonna do it! Read on, this is a BIG and exciting post! (Psssst...There’s a prize, too!)

Y’all have heard me talk about bloggy buddy, Shelly over at This Eclectic Life, right?

Well, then y’all already know that Shelly has a heart the size of Texas! Maybe even bigger than Texas. Maybe more like Alaska! You get the’s BIG!

Shelly spend many hours and months coordinating her Share A Square project and organizing people who could crochet squares and assemble them into afghans to be donated to Camp Sanguinity, a special summer camp for children battling cancer.

Shelly’s hope was that each of the 150 children who attend the camp every summer would be able to wrap themselves up in an afghan created with the love from 48 different people. Did Shelly back down when she realized that she was going to need over 8,000 crocheted squares to pull this off? No, she didn’t. She plowed on through and has reached her afghan goal. Check them out! They are beautiful!

Now, one would think that after all of that, Shelly would take a break, but no, not Shelly! That’s not what people with hearts that big do.

Now Shelly has decided that not only does she want to wrap each one of these kids in an afghan, she wants to help their parents out by raising enough money to send all of these kids to this camp for free.

It costs about $150.00 per child and Shelly is looking to raise a total of $21,000 to achieve this goal!

I do not have a child with cancer, but I do have a child battling a serious illness and I know how emotionally exhausting, as well as financially draining it can be. I know how people pray for their children to have experiences where they can just feel like normal kids and hope that after all the doctor bills, visits and medicines that they have the money to let them go.

My daughter will be attending a music camp this summer and fortunately, she has received a complete scholarship to attend. I want to help Shelly help those that aren’t as fortunate. honor of my upcoming 2nd Blogaversary on May 16th, The Rock Chick is having a contest!
If you help me help Shelly, you will be entered into a raffle to win this.......TA DA!

Yes, it's a 1GB Apple iPod Shuffle! These are so lightweight and clip right on your clothes so they are perfect for exercising, running, walking around the zoo, hanging at the beach...whatever and wherever the nice upcoming summer weather brings you!

I love my iPod video, but these shuffles are just perfect if you’re out doing something active. The shuffle is available in silver, blue, green and purple and I’ll even let you pick your favorite color!

Here’s how to get entered into my raffle:

1. Make a donation in any amount to Shelly’s Camp Sanguinity Fund 2008. She has anything and everything you’d need to know before you donate written here. You can send donations via US Mail or donate through Paypal. If you’ve already donated, just skip on over to #2. If you really can't afford a donation, but want to still help, you can go to step #2 as well.

Mail : Make the check or money order payable to Tucker’s CAMP SANGUINITY FUND 2008 and send it to: Shelly Tucker, P.O. Box 2241, Denton, TX 76202

***UPDATE (5/3/08) Shelly is still awaiting her accountant's return to work after a break from tax season, so she still does not have the paperwork that some people are requesting for tax purposes. She will have them soon. If you'd still like to donate, make your check directly payable to Camp Sanguinity and just mail it to Shelly at the above address.***

or donate via PayPal by clicking the image below:

2. Write a post on your blog LINKING BACK TO THIS POST and encouraging people to participate! The more the merrier and the closer we can get Shelly to her goal! If you don’t have a blog, well, then you don’t have to do this, but you can steer your friends over to my blog and ask them to donate to Shelly’s fund. That would be sweet!

3. Leave a comment on this post letting me know that you participated and compliment me on how fabulous I am! Just kidding. You don’t have to tell me I’m fabulous, but if you’d like to, hey, I won’t stop you :) Make sure that when you comment, I have a way to find you. If you choose “Anonymous” and don’t leave any link, well, I won't be able to find you.

That’s it! Everyone listed in the comments section will be entered in my raffle for the Apple iPod Shuffle. I will draw the winner on the evening of May 16th!, which is my TWO YEAR BLOGAVERSARY AND MY 16TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!WOOOO HOOOOO!

To sweeten the pot, my daughter, the one and only supertalented Samantha Hollywood, owner of Fashionably Late Layouts, will make you a custom MySpace layout for a $10 donation to Shelly’s fund. If you donate $10.00 or more and would like a custom MySpace layout for you or anyone, please email me at and I will hook you up!

That’s it....easy (and wordy enough), right? Apple iPod shuffle, MySpace custom layouts and helping kids with cancer have a true summer camp experience. Sounds like a great way to celebrate to me!

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go! Let’s shuffle Shelly’s and Camp Sanguinity’s world and get these kids to summer camp!

Library goddess says you guys are both soooooooooo big hearted. I actually posted Shelly's request to the TLA list serve and was hoping that some generous librarians would donate. Guess I'll try again.

You rock!

I had donated and posted, but posted again today to link to your post. I hope your generous offer brings out those that were merely procrastinating and those that had not yet really considered doing it.

Did I say you rock? Yeah, but it is worth saying twice.
