Happy Anniversary

Big day, Rock Chick fans! Today is my 16th wedding anniversary, my 2nd blogaversary and the day I will pick the Shuffle Off Raffle Winner!

I’d like to say that I’m going to pick them around 2PM Central Time and that’s the plan, but if you don’t see a post announcing the winners up, please feel free to continue to donate and play along. The drawing will happen today. A donation in any amount will get you entered and will get my friend Shelly one step closer to her dream.

All the contestants names will be put into a box and 2 names will be drawn.
The first name out of the box will win the iPod Shuffle.

The second name drawn will win a $10.00 Gift Certificate to 2 Belles and A Bead.

And if you’ve donated, you’re all winners in my book and in the lives of those kids at Camp Sanguinity! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! And if you haven't yet entered, what in the world on you waiting for?

Last night was bittersweet for me because not only is today my 16th wedding anniversary, my son is competing at state in track three or so hours away, which means I’m leaving tonight to go down there for the weekend.

And, just in case you were worried, I do have all the details and hotel rooms lined up. I won’t have to sleep in the van.

JW and I both can’t go this weekend because he has a big install at work and has people in from out of town to assist him. The older two girls both have big plans...work and a flute performance in the Norwegian Day parade.

But not together on our anniversary? To someone as emotionally attached to her husband and to dates on a calendar as I am, this was heart-wrenching for me. I remember the dates of everything and always try to celebrate them, no matter how silly or small. Can’t help it. That’s how I roll!

JW was bummed, too. Not only because of the anniversary thing, but because he will be missing his son compete at the state level in track. I’ll be videotaping, of course, but it’s not like being there. I know.

So, in order to make up for all this emotional drama, we’ve decided that next weekend we’re going to try to spend the weekend at our favorite water park hotel with all the kids.

It will kind of be a 16th anniversary, Oldest Daughter’s 17th Birthday, My Birthday and The Hubby’s Birthday celebration. Yes, all of our birthdays are next week! I’m very excited about that. We all love that place and the kids are getting so big so fast that it will be nice to have a weekend with the family!

Every year I look through my wedding pictures and this one is always my favorite. Even though you can’t really see our faces, it’s one moment of the wedding day that wasn’t planned or posed.

This picture was taken right before our wedding when we were going to the police department’s retirement dinner. I still had my big 80’s hair even though it was 1992. It took me a while to break that Aqua-Net addiction. We don't really look as cute as this any more, but it's still my "JW and Me" pic.

Some gooey (my new fave word. Thanks, Simon Cowell!) anniversary wishes:

To my loyal readers and bloggy friends, I thank you for your support, comments, loyalty and friendship over the past two years. We’ve never met, but I feel as though I know each and every one of you. I wish us all many more years and blog entries to come! And to the ones I do know personally, I love you unless I've written an unflattering post about you. Then you know I feel :)

And JW, when we first met on the school bus back in 7th grade and if someone told us we would end up married, I don’t think either of us would have believed it. Growing up changed both of us for the better and I can’t imagine anyone I would want to continue to grow up and to grow old with. You are my best friend, my strength, my life, my laughs and my love. Thank you for sixteen wonderful years. Here’s to many, many more! Always and all ways.

Happy anniversary and blogaversary!
Sorry you won't be together on your big day. Our anniversary falls between two other big days in our family, so we usually end up combining things. Plus, he travels most weekends, so we're used to improvising.
Have a blast this weekend and next!

Congrats on both your wedding and blog anniversaries. I had no idea that you knew JW since the 7th grade. That's so cool that you two were able to eventually connect. Enjoy the time with your family next weekend.

Vixen: thank you! It will be a blast! How could it not be? The people I love and floating on lazy rivers with strawberry margaritas. Sounds like heaven!

nashvegas: thank you! I did improvise and we're going to dinner tonight! It's a busy time around here too. Within a week we have our anniversary and three birthdays in the house.

pjazzy: thank you!!!!!

crystal: thank you, too!!!

damien: OMG. LOL! You crack me up! I love this and every bit of it is true!!! Thank you so much for this and it's fabulous to know you, too!

Malcolm: thank you! Yes, JW was actually one of the first people that I met when I moved from Chicago to the 'burbs as a kid. He lived around the block from me and I met him on the school bus. Let's just say we didn't like each other all that much :)
When we go to reunions, our former classmates still shake their heads when they learn we've married. See what growing up does to people? LOL
