Forever In Blue Jeans

As I do every morning with my coffee, I click through articles on many different sites and blogs. One of them is AOL News. This morning Brooke Shields was being praised for supposedly still fitting into a pair of Calvin Klein jeans from an ad she made in 1980 when she was 15.

Here’s a quote from the article:

In 1980, when Brooke Shields was just a teenager, she did a few Calvin Klein jeans ads with the famous tagline, "You want to know what comes between me and my Calvins? Nothing." It appears the same has held true nearly 30 years later -- she showed up at a party for the designer's 40th anniversary wearing the same jeans. And yep, those are it in the picture.

And here’s the picture:

You all know I pride myself on my superior detective abilities, but I don’t think anyone has to be CSI certified to see that those are not the same jeans. They may be Calvin Klein jeans, but the whole cut, the rise and the rinse are completely different.

Nancy Drew votes: Brooke Shields may be forever in Calvin Klein blue jeans, but the pair she is wearing on the right is not the same pair in the picture on the left. Definitely not the same jeans.

Brooke Shields is now 43 years old and, my opinion, as gorgeous as ever. Since first wearing these jeans, she has earned a degree from Princeton and has maintained a lifelong show business career spanning print ads, commercials, movies, TV and live theater. Best of all, she publicly stood up to the superwacky Tom Cruise regarding getting appropriate help for depression issues.

After all of that, does supposedly fitting into a pair of 1980 jeans make her more attractive? No. Should Brooke Shields fit into a pair of jeans that she wore at 15? Probably not.

So why would anyone waste their time writing about this?

I don’t know. I got on a roll and it just took off from there! :)

I think you're wrong...

Clearly they are the same jeans...

Clearly it is not the same woman!

You see, Tom Cruise actually called back to his home planet after being "stood-up-to" by Brooke Shields...

They abducted the original and put an identical clone (with all the same memories and experiences, mind you) in her place. It didn't do any good since she was exactly the same, but nothing Tom Cruise does makes sense.

Hey, don't look at me. You started it!

Of course they are the same jeans...the woman can afford liposuction. And, yes, fitting into a pair of 1980 jeans makes her more attractive...but more attractive than what?

I like it when you get on a roll.

Dustin: I did start it, you're right! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the humor you throw right back at me!

Shelly: See? You get me. I just don't get it :) LOL
