Twofer Tuesday

I was born under the zodiac sign Gemini and I really am one! There are two distinct sides to my personality and sometimes I confuse people.

Even people who know me very well sometimes think I will judge them because of something they believe, the way they choose to live or something they may have done.

Nothing could be farther from the truth. Just because I don’t/haven’t/wouldn’t do something does not mean that I think nobody else should/could or want to. People have to live their own lives and the way I choose to live mine is not how I feel everyone should live theirs.

I would say I’m very conservative in regard to myself and how I choose to live my life. You will also find that I am quite liberal regarding what other people do and believe. I’m not going to apologize for that, even though the word is often used in a derogatory way.

Liberal means broad or open-minded and tolerant. It also means generous. I don’t think either of these are bad qualities to possess, in humans or....even in donuts!

I doubt I have to remind anyone that It’s not just any Tuesday. It’s a big Tuesday, a Super Tuesday you might even say.

My first order of business is to remind everyone to vote. Yes, your vote does count. Make yourself heard. After I make my voice heard for Barack Obama, I will treat myself to a donut.

Yes, a donut! Not only are presidential primary elections and/or caucuses taking place in 24 states today, it is also Fat Tuesday....aka Mardi Gras....aka Paczki Day!

Have you ever had a Paczki? We’ve always enjoyed them in my family as a Fat Tuesday treat!

In case you don’t know, Fat Tuesday (in french, Mardi Gras) is the day before lent. Many food items such as sugar, eggs and fruit used (maybe they still are, I’m not sure) to be forbidden during Lent, so people would make all of these sweet treats on Fat Tuesday to use up all of these ingredients in the house.

Paczkis are a Polish donut that are more typically called jelly filled or Bismarcks. They are deep fried dough liberally stuffed with all kinds of scrumptious fillings. My favorite are the ones filled with Bavarian Cream and dripping with a liberal dunking of chocolate.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!

See? Liberal can be good!

The Rock Chick’s opinion? Barack rocks, Paczkis rock and you should go rock the vote!

Happy Super, Fat, Mardi Gras, Paczki Tuesday everyone!

We took our voting selves out to the Dairy Queen! Decided it would be an awsome tradition. Though it will probably be the only time we vote with our 18yo as he leaves for the military in August. He plans to take himself out after voting, though.

Now, around here those are called "chocolate eclairs," and we agree! Yes, liberal is good, dear. Especially when it means "generous." It fits you to a "T."
