Looking Up
Great news! My daughter is making great progress in the battle against the eating disorder and was moved from the inpatient program to a partial day program. This means she is able to come home for the evenings and the weekends!
Last night was her first night home. It went very well and it was a relief to have her back home smiling and enjoying herself. It’s obviously still a major struggle and will be for a long while, but things are definitely looking up!
I haven’t finished the garden chairs that we were making. We finished one of them and the other one is cut and ready to be assembled, just haven’t gotten to it yet. Hopefully, we can get that done this weekend!
I also have been spending a lot of time looking down at the ground and working on my gardens in order to spruce up the house. My first attempt and planting and designing a garden is working and my marigolds are growing like weeds right along with the weeds!
I’ve been diligently pulling them out, though and it’s looking very nice!
I also planted some perennials in front of my porch and I’m just crazy about the way it looks! I still have to put my mulch around all this and get the crazy Chicago wind to stop blowing the leaves off my flowers, but take a look!
I don’t know what’s happened to me. I normally have no luck with plants because I tend to forget about them. Not anymore!
I hope everyone enjoys their 4th of July weekends. We will be seeing parades, fireworks and visiting with family and neighbors, I think and I will be snapping out of my funk and returning to my regularly scheduled RANTastic programming.
It’s time!

I have been out of town and just now had the chance to read through and catch up on your last few posts. I am glad to hear that your daughter is doing better and that you're learning more about yourself in the process!
You guys need to go out and enjoy the fireworks! Time to pat yourselves on the back for jobs well done on your home projects too!
I'm glad things are looking up. I hope they continue to improve. :)
The yard is looking great! Glad to hear your daughter is allowed to spend some time at the homestead. That is good for her and the family. Happy holidays to you. Keep your head up.
Sorry I haven't been around in a little while. Life intervened.
I'm glad your daughter is getting better. A willingness to even want help is a HUGE step. My eating problem is in the other direction, way, way too much.
The flowers look good too. Get you some Miracle Grow. Lovely Wife uses it and with occasional use, your flowers will go crazy. It's truly amazing stuff.
Have a great 4th!
I am glad your daughter is home for nights and weekends :)
your garden is beautiful!
I am so glad things are looking better for you and your daughter. Maybe my prayers are working for everyone else!
Have a wonderful 4th.
So glad to hear Samantha is able to come home and visit for weekends and that her progress is "progressing"! That's a wonderful post for Independence Day,isn't it?
Your flowers are looking good - you do have a green thumb now!
I'm looking forward to the return of your RANTastic programming - I've been a little acid on Brat in the Hat lately, but then I'm tired and old people get grumpier when tired, lol!
Happy Fourth!
Thank you all for your kind words and prayers! It's a struggle, but things are continuing to move in a positive direction. I'll be "visiting" all of you real soon!!!!!
Thanks again!
You don't know me. But I have been in a similar situation with my son, as you are with your daughter. The 'disorder' was different, but the inpatient, then outpatient scenarios are the same.
You seem to be doing well. I weathered it and I believe you will too. Both you and your daughter and your whole family will learn and grow and a new relationship will develop that works for you all in so many good ways.
I'll remember you in my prayers.
I haven't been on your blog recently, and just caught up! I'm so sorry to hear about Sam and glad things are looking up!!!
