Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?
Or care? Or worry that I have to know what time it is because I have places to be?
I told you all how excited I was that my son made state in track and that I would be road tripping to Springfield, IL on Saturday!
Well, my son did make state, that I am sure of, but the rest of the details remain sketchy.
Eagerly, I selected a hotel with an indoor pool in the luxurious capital city of Illinois. Ready!
Or not...
I was then informed that it wasn’t in Springfield, but in Bloomington, IL. Ok, whatever. Cancel my reservation in Springfield and find a hotel room in Bloomington/Normal in between the college kids and State Farm Headquarters. Done! I love the internet!
But...
Change of plans. The track meet was no longer on Saturday. It was on Friday! WTF?
How am I supposed to go anywhere on Friday when it’s my 16th wedding anniversary (woo hoo!), my 2nd Blogaversary for which I am having a terrific raffle for an iPod Shuffle and a 2 Belles and a Bead gift certificate and my son, the track star, was to be impersonating a rock star in a recital with his guitar class?
I can't breathe. Where the hell is my hyperventilation paper bag? Oh, right, the cat moved into it for a hideaway! Xanax, people, Xanax!
Sorry. Continuing on....
I got my son excused from the guitar recital. We can celebrate our anniversary a day early and I can hold the iPod raffle before I go.
Check. Check. Check. Breathing. Breathing. Breathing.
AND THEN...
Before I knew it, somehow it became Friday AND Saturday and it wasn’t in Springfield, IL or Bloomington, IL. It was in East Peoria, IL!
Ummmm, Hellooooooo???
I’m sure this event is planned somewhere already by someone, right? Could the idiots in charge please gather the appropriate information and stop passing info to me piecemeal through my 12 year old son?
So, what’s a mom to do other than go bezerk on the track coach? Yessssss, My Catboots gave him his fastest time yet on the 100 yard dash and his form was purrrrfect. I'm not sorry and you’re welcome.
I found out what I needed to know. The competition is Friday AND Saturday in East Peoria, IL. Which would be fine except that hundreds of other much better informed athletes and their families have sucked up every single hotel room in the area!
Camping in the van isn’t something I really want to do in East Peoria, IL, but since the hotels and motels won’t keep a light on for me, maybe all the exotic dancing places they have there will.
I don’t remember Carol Brady ever having these difficulties.

Oh Dear Jessica!!! What a whirlwind... and just for one child already! Good for you for smiling through... and Happy Anniversary for both!!
susiej: if you don't smile, you'll never make it, right? Thank you for the double anniversary wishes!!!
And I thought my life was stressful right now!
You know...they ought to have a web page that someone updates with this kind of information. Seriously...you can get stuff like that for free through Google and other places, and you can save on the resources of printing out details for a bunch of parents...just need to be able to get the URL out and have somebody update it!
Crystal: My biggest source of stress is actually not my kids, it's dealing with the people that they deal with. I"m serious. If I could be a hermit, I'd be stress free! Now I just need that winning lottery ticket!
Dustin: You'd think they would have a website. I figured they probably did and I checked, but I couldn't find anything so either there isn't or they didn't tag it correctly because I couldn't find anything.
I'm trying to focus on the positive. These things make me crazy, but they make for excellent blog entries!
Wow, I am surprised they couldn't have a concise pack of information ready for the kids who made state. Ridiculous.
Good luck figuring everything out and remember these are the times that memories and bald patches are made.
